Mathematics
This year we have the Big Ideas Math: Course 1 - A Bridge to Success
Structure of the Class:

Students will be pre-assessed at the beginning of each chapter to determine which class they will be in for that chapter. Students will then be split into 2 groups according to their assessment. They may have a different teacher for each chapter along with different students in their classes.

Some students will be working with Sister Melissa during this math time to continue pushing them to their full potential.

There will not be a designated "high" or "low" teacher, but each teacher will teach their group of students based on the pre-assessment; whether it will be reinforcement, review of skills or just need to be more challenged. Near the end of each chapter, we will pre-assess the students for the next chapter.

Quizzes, tests and daily assignments will be administered throughout each chapter and by each teacher.

Students will be documenting all information in their Math Interactive Notebooks, along with keeping track of their assessments in data binder. This will help them see how they are progressing as they master each skill and standard.

We hope this process will allow students who may be strong or need additional help the opportunity to excel. The students, in the end, are in control of their own learning.
Students will be getting online access codes to do assignments online, receive additional support (sometimes with a live Big Ideas tutor!), and do quizzes. Please record this so that students can do their work at home.
